From Porcupine Quills to Paintings: How Micro-Fade testing is predicting the future of Art

Dr Judith Bannerman from the University of Exete.

Judith is the Technical Services Manager for the Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences department at the University of Exeter, looking after the laboratories across three buildings.She has a PhD in Material Science Engineering from the University of Exeter (2007), The Effects of Accelerated Ageing on the Chemical, Physical and Mechanical Properties of Artists’ Acrylic Paints. A project in conjunction with Tate Britain.She has 10 years’ experience in Research and Development in the Cultural Heritage sector and also experience in applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to cultural heritage issues; from objects in museums to great masters.
