The role of gut health and Vitamin D in the maintenance of a functional immune system, with Mark Bishop, DipCNM CNHC mBANT, Registered Nutritional Therapist, East Devon Nutrition.

With the prevalence of COVID, we are all being told to protect the NHS by not spreading the virus, but why isn’t more attention being paid to people’s ability to fight it and resist infection in the first place?
Consider two factors –
1) Approximately 80% of your immune system resides in or is initialised in your gut.
2) For approximately 4-6 months of the year the sun’s rays are not powerful enough for our bodies to manufacture vitamin D.

In this talk, I will touch on the importance of gut health and Vitamin D in the maintenance of a functional immune response, and give some general advice on what you can do to support your own immune system, especially through the winter months.

If you are on the Cafe Scientifique mailing list you will be sent an invitation.
