Talk: New Thinking on Clean Growth with Professor Evan Parker

This talk challenges the today’s thinking on “clean growth”  – is it just a political instrument, is it really clean and what sort of growth do we really want?

We will go on to consider some imaginative stuff that can be done in Sid Vale  that promotes real engagement -particularly with things ecological. How one might achieve the seemingly impossible – a life fulfilled yet in harmony with others and with the local and global environment?

Evan has been interested in all things environmental for many years. He has presented talks on climate change and how to respond to it at venues ranging from village halls to Government Departments. He wrote an environmental column for a Cotswold journal and set up schemes that ensured rural settings thrived economically and ecologically.

Politics drives most things related to living together and associated adverse impacts on the environment, and is in desperate need of radical reform –the subject of his upcoming book. In his spare time he is Emeritus Professor of Quantum Technology at the University of Warwick, where he spun out a company in solar cell technology and recently, a company on quantum sensors.

Part of the Clean Growth Series.
