Wealthy residents in Victorian Sidmouth competed to have the most impressive gardens. James Veitch and Sons of Exeter was one of the foremost nurseries in the whole country and they employed plant hunters to scour the world for the exotic and innovative to delight their customers. We follow in the footsteps of these intrepid explorers embodied in some of the magnificent trees that still grace our town.
